St Davids RNLI all-weather lifeboat “Norah Wortley” was launched at 8.40pm on Wednesday evening, May 16.
A ten metre yacht with three people on board had contacted UK coastguards for help as it was struggling to make headway against strong tides and a rough sea about four and a half miles north west of the South Bishop lighthouse. By this stage the three crew members were exhausted.
The yacht was located using the lifeboat’s direction finding equipment. Once on scene the lifeboat crew set a tow and brought the casualty vessel back to the lifeboat station, where she was safely moored. The lifeboat rehoused at 12.20amyesterday morning.
