A GROUP which helps young carers in Pembrokeshire has been given a £1,000 boost from a housebuilder which has developments in Pembroke and Narberth.
Action for Children’s Pembrokeshire Young Carers is the latest beneficiary of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme.
It has been awarded £1,000 for respite breaks for children with caring responsibilities.
Nina Rice, of Action for Children’s Pembrokeshire Young Carers, said: “We support children, some as young as eight, who may care for a family member, either emotionally or physically.
“Young carers often feel different from their friends and miss out on many childhood opportunities.
“We provide services and opportunities to reduce the burden of caring by offering them a break from their responsibilities and the chance to talk to someone.
“This generous donation is a huge help.”
Sharon Bouhali, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to be able to help these two good causes with this money.
“Giving back to the communities in which we build is right at the heart of the Persimmon Homes ethos, and Community Champions is just one way in which we do that.”
