A Pembroke Dock man has been cleared of groping a woman in a local supermarket.

Andrew John Cole, of Water Street, was found not guilty of sexual assault after standing trial at Haverfordwest magistrates court on Monday, May 14.

Cole, 58, denied grabbing a woman’s breast after asking her for a hug in the Pembroke Dock store’s cafe on June 28, 2017.

The woman claimed Cole squeezed her right breast while sitting in his wheelchair, when she leant down to hug him as she had done on several previous occasions.

Cole stated he had accidently brushed her breast when he put his arms up to hug her.

Mike Kelleher, defending, said: “He is not saying that nothing happened, he is here saying that there was an accident and he apologises for that, as he did at the time.”

Magistrates cleared Cole of the offence, but agreed to impose a non-conviction 10 year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting the woman.
