A Pembroke Dock man has been ordered to pay nearly £600 after he admitted driving while more than double the drink-drive limit.

David John Murray, of Britannia Drive, pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal alcohol limit when he appeared before Haverfordwest magistrates on Tuesday, April 17.

The court heard that the 69 year-old support worker was found to have 95mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath after he was stopped on Victoria Road, Pembroke Dock, at 5.30pm on March 4, the legal limit is 35mg.

Mark Layton, defending, told the court that Murray, who was previously of clean character, had been unable to attend a previous court hearing as he had been hospitalised due to a fall down the stairs.

Magistrates fined Murray £465 and banned him from driving for 23 months.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £47 surcharge.
