FISHGUARD & District Soroptimists has handed over a £1,300 cheque to POINT's Healthy Living project last week.

Running since July 2014, this is initiative engages large numbers of young people, who plant and grow vegetables, seeing them transformed into healthy meals that youth centre staff provide three to four evenings each week.

Youngsters get involved in the preparation of the meals, learning about food hygiene, cooking skills, and the importance of eating a healthy balanced diet. In some cases, it may be the only hot nutritious meal they will get.

"The Soroptimists generous donation will help us to continue the provision of healthy meals at our drop in," POINT general manager Zoe Davies said.

"We also plan to train some young people formally in food handling and hygiene, leading up to supporting them to hold an intergenerational party in the summer at POINT, as part of the national Campaign to End Loneliness."

The Soroptimists raised the money during their summer events in the community.
