RESIDENTS of the Garth housing estate in Haverfordwest have pitched in to clean up their neighbourhood.

The clean-up on Tuesday, February 20 was organised by Pembrokeshire County Council and Pembrokeshire Housing, with 70 residents of all ages joining forces with staff to collect 40 bags of rubbish.

The County Council’s recycling and housing teams were out to on the estate to offer residents advice.

Pembrokeshire Housing staff gathered feedback from residents using surveys and its Benefits and Money Advisor and Tenant Engagement Officers were also on hand to offer advice.

Police and Fire teams were also on hand to offer advice, as were representatives of Haverfordwest Town Council, and PAVS (Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services) and the Garth Steering Group.

County Councillor Pat Davies, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory Services and the County Councillor for the Garth electoral division, Lyndon Frayling, also pitched in.

Keep Wales Tidy donated some of the litter-picking equipment including red bags, hi-vis vests and gloves while the Town Council kindly provided the loan of its gazebos to provide much-needed shelter.

Children on the estate were entertained by Little Monsters and Fun Times Bouncy Castle, both from Milford Haven.

A sports session run by Craig Butland of Sports Pembrokeshire also proved a big hit.
