A WELL-known Haverfordwest landmark has disappeared from High Street so it can undergo some renovation work to bring it back to full working order.

The clock which hangs above Bisley H Munt and Son’s Jewellers at 43 High Street disappeared from the ornate bracket casing outside the shop during the Christmas holidays.

The clock, which it is estimated has hung above the shop since at least the 1880s, is having some well-deserved repairs after its long years of service.

“There was something under the dial that was playing up and so we are having it renovated and repainted,” explained Paul Munt of the family-owned business.

“I suppose it is one of those things you might notice when you are in town. Whether I would say it is landmark I don’t know, but it has been there for many, many years,” he added.

The shop staff hope the clock will be repaired in the next month to six weeks, to be placed back in its rightful place before the end of the winter.

Bisley H Munt has been in Haverfordwest for more than 200 years, and first opened its doors in 1796.

The shop lays claim to being one of the oldest family-owned jewellers in the UK.
