A GOODWICK great-grandmother has donated £200 to Fishguard's Rainbow Support Centre following her 90th birthday celebrations.

Gwen Evans, of Panteg, asked for donations to the centre instead of presents.

"I have everything I need", Gwen said, "So when family and friends asked what I would like for my birthday, I thought it would be a good idea to make a collection for a local charity."

Gwen, a widow who has also lost a daughter and a son, is a great-grandmother of 15. She wanted to make birthday donations to a charity that works with people in the local community.

When she heard about the work being done by the Rainbow Support Centre she decided that this was the organisation for her.

Gwen visited the centre with her granddaughter Bethan and presented the £200 cheque to volunteers Ros Williams and Kitty Parsons.

"Thanks so much not only to Gwen herself, but also to the family and friends who so generously raised the money, "said Ros.

"We will use the funds to further our work of providing support and activities for people with life-limiting health conditions in Pembrokeshire."
