ELLY’S Ward 10 Flag Appeal, which supports Cancer Patients on Ward 10 at Withybush, has reached a significant milestone, with an amazing £120,000 raised.

Elly, the daughter of Lyn and Ann Neville of Pembroke, has been raising valuable funds towards the refurbishment and upgrade of Ward 10 cancer ward through her prize-winning collage of the Pembrokeshire Flag since May 1, 2015.

Elly, now a seven-year-old Year 3 pupil at Pembroke Dock Community School, decided that she wanted to start raising money to help the ward that treated her father. Lyn had a bone marrow transplant in 2005 and subsequently spent a lot of time on the Ward 10 cancer facility at Withybush Hospital.

From initial hopes to raise just £50, and raise the profile of cancer services for in-patients at Withybush Hospital, the amount raised by Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal has been truly staggering.

More importantly the appeal has recently purchased a Sara Steady Enhanced Standing Aid for the Ward at £850, and last week it was agreed to purchase a bladder scanner for £9,000, a urine analysis machine for £1,000, and two sofa beds for the relatives’ room at £2,000, which will enable family to stay near loved ones.

Elly’s dad Lyn said: “We are truly amazed to have raised £120,000 and thank everyone who has supported us in any way.

“It is good to now be in a position to purchase items and equipment that will make a real difference to patients, staff and visitors on Ward 10. We would please ask that you continue to support Elly’s appeal, which is now making a difference to patient environment and experience.”

Elly and her family are continuing to seek donations via their Just Giving page: justgiving.com/fundraising/Ward10Flag and see the Facebook page - search Ward 10 Flag.
