A Pembroke man who uses a wheelchair assaulted his partner four times, a judge heard today (Tuesday).

Lewis Laville, aged 23, of Powell Close, had been due to go on trial at Swansea crown court today but at the last moment entered pleas of guilty.

Laville admitted assaulting Victoria Bendle causing her actual bodily harm four times between June 1 and September 18, 2016.

The judge, Mr Recorder Greg Bull said he would sentence Laville on October 17 after reports had been prepared into his medical and psychiatric conditions.

But he warned Laville it was "highly likely" he would go to prison despite being in a wheelchair following a motorcycle accident in 2011.

Although he was paralysed from the waist down that did not stop Laville driving his then girlfriend's Toyota Yaris in 2015 at 80mph and while over the drink drive limit.

Laville explained at the time he could drive the car by using his hands to push down on his legs to work the brake and accelerator.

Laville was granted bail until the sentencing hearing.
