AN impressive sandcastle built on Broad Haven beach at the end of the summer earned a special prize for rugby fans holidaying in the area.

Leicester Tigers fans Suzanna Dunkerton, husband Sam, and family were holidaying with aunt and uncle Anne and Esdale MacLean, of Swanswell Close, Broad Haven when they decided to enter a club competition.

The competition asked fans to send in their best Tigers sandcastles, with none adult season ticket and one under-10 season ticket to the parent and child winners.

Five-year-old Lucy Dunkerton and her dad Sam, from Oadby, sent her Welford Road stadium sandcastle to the Tigers, complete with lots of flags and then 15 Tigers players and 15 rival Wasps players out of sticks and wool.

The next day Sam dug a big hole and the two started making the stadium, with sticks, stones and shells to decorate, and even a toilet block and an iPhone as the big screen.

Esdale said: “Suzanna is a person determined to win any competition she enters.

“Sam, her husband, he’s a great Leicester Tigers fan, they thought of entering to win the season ticket.

“As local residents, we’re absolutely delighted that our family won this competition; we had to give them a bit of a hand, it was a huge undertaking which took all morning and in to the afternoon.”
