Dear Editor

I refer to the letter in the Tivy-Side (October 22) – 'Not aware of this meeting'. In that letter Steve Jones, the Chief Executive of Tai Ceredigion is utterly confused when he states that the current planninng application for nine dwellings has been reduced having considered the view of the local residents. The previous application was for eight dwellings. The Chief Executive will be aware that their first application, in 2012 was withdrawn, following a huge number of objections to the loss of a vital green playing area. There was also objection from the Highways Department. The second application to relocate the play area to the top left hand corner, thereby again reducing the play area by 75% was refused by Ceredigion’s Planning Committee. Needless to say this was an attempt to move the play area to make way for construction of dwellings. The third application for eight dwellings, was again refused for the same reasons, i.e. the criteria of Ceredigion Policy CER2.5 could not be met as the proposal would result in a substantial reduction in the existing open space provision. An appeal to the Welsh Office Inspectorate was refused for the same reasons. It is therefore difficult to comprehend, how the Chief Executive can claim that the current application for nine dwellings, has been substantially reduced, when the previous application for eight was refused. It would also be of interest to the rate payers of Ceredigion, to know the total costs involved in making the three aforementioned applications plus the appeal costs to the Welsh Planning Inspectorate and whether the the Chairman and Board of Tai Ceredigon, have been made aware of these costs. The readers of this page would, no doubt like to have the opportunity to study these figures.
