Dear Editor,
I read in last week's Tivy-Side (October 29) that Hywel Dda Health Board is cancelling elective orthopaedic surgery in Haverfordwest, Llanelli and Aberystwyth. According to Elin Jones AM, 'all elective surgery outside Carmarthen' is being cancelled.
While I was visiting a friend in Teifi Ward, Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen, this week I was told that already there is no elective orthopaedic surgery being carried out at Carmarthen. So, apparently there is currently no elective orthopaedic surgery provision in the whole of Hywel Dda.
Perhaps the health board can tell us how long people who are on the lists for hip and/or knee surgery will now have to wait?
