Dear Editor,

Re: The removal of Play Equipment at Maesglas Play Area. When workmen arrived without any prior notice at the Maesglas Play area they stated that a yearly Health and Safety report had said that the play equipment was to be removed as it was dangerous. After failing to remove one item they left it in a worse state than when they arrived. They should have made sure that the children’s play area was secured before they left. A piece of plastic tape is of no consequence to a child. On 23 May 2012 Tai Ceredigion held a consultation meeting at St Mary’s Church Hall. Several residents reported the play equipment as being damaged at the time. Why has it taken so long to deal with the matter? It just happens to coincide with another Planning Application being submitted to demolish the garages, move the play area, reduce its size by more thann 50% and introduce a road into a safe green recreational area to build flats and houses. As you know Village Green Status was applied for, more than 18 months ago and new regulations came into force on 1 October 2013 to help speed up legitimate applications. This should be resolved one way or another by Ceredigion Councillors but perhaps a Public Enquiry would achieve the rightful outcome.
