Man denies wounding

A man accused of punching another man several times to the face while on the ground, fracturing his cheek and jaw which required surgery and the insertion of plates and screws, has pleaded not guilty to a wounding charge.

A young Pontsian woman has been fined for driving a Peugeot 406 without insurance and her 20-year-old brother, who owns the car, fined for permitting her to use the vehicle without insurance.

A young driver, who knocked down and killed a 91-year-old widow near her home in Penparc before driving away and not reporting the accident has been fined and had penalty points imposed on his driving licence.

Commenting on proposals to close the Penparc Branch Post Office Ceredigion on the grounds the axe must occur due to branches in Llandrindod and Brecon remaining open. Welsh Conservative Assembly leader Nick Bourne AM said: This is an outrage. To close one branch due to two others avoiding closure, with no geographical relation, is ridiculous.'' According to reports the closure must occur in order to meet the government's instruction to reduce 2, 500 branches throughout the UK and to do this on a geographically proportionate basis'.
