Looking for foster carers
During the annual Fostering Fortnight Campaign (12th May to 25th May) Ceredigion Social Services , together with fostering services all over the UK will be raising the profile of fostering and highlighting the need for more foster carers to come forward.
Pam Green, Team Manager of the Ceredigion Family Placement Service based in Aberaeron said that Ideally all children should grow up in the safety and security of their own homes. Raising children is very important and at times a difficult task, when a variety of factors may cause stress points on a family and result in children coming into care.'
She added: Foster Carers have a vital role to play in giving Ceredigion's children in care the best possible start in life and we need to recruit a whole range of foster carers, who reflect the diversity of the children in care.
We are looking for foster carers for the more challenging placements and for teenagers. We are also looking to recruit mother and baby placements and a remand fostering placement for young people who are presenting offending behaviour.
Ceredigion's Tîm Plant Anabl (Disabled Children's Team) Short Breaks Service are looking for host carers.
Being a foster carer is a very challenging but rewarding role. Ceredigion Family Placement would like to hear from people who have skills such as patience, flexibility and tolerance to offer children and young people a stable home within which to work through the presenting difficulties. They are especially keen to hear from people who have experience of looking after teenagers.
