It's been a rollercoaster of a year for Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust.

The Cardigan-based trust - which is currently putting together a feasibility study for Cardigan Castle - has seen a packed timetable over the past 12 months, the trust's AGM was told.

Starting in December last year the trust hosted a special brainstorming day to gather ideas about the castle, interviewed and appointed a renowned architect to take on the feasibility study and then spent countless hours to secure a funding package.

During all this activity, Cadwgan hosted the royal visit to the castle by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall as well as holding several fundraising events.

"It's been a very busy and successful year," said trust chairman Jann Tucker.

"With the funding finally in place the feasibility study is underway and is due to be completed early next year when there will be a public meeting to discuss its findings."

She also thanked the castle volunteers who have alredy put in nearly three times as many hours work as was originally targeted.

"This is a truly wonderful contribution to the castle project," she said.

"Strong local support will be a vital element when it comes to attracting the substantial finance that will be needed for the restoration work itself.

Mrs Tucker also paid tribute to founding Cadwgan trustee Trevor Griffiths who died in February for his vision and tireless work for the castle.

Cadwgan trustees were all re-elected with Mrs Tucker returned as chairman. They are: Dafydd Ladd, Gary Cooper, Dr Geraint Jenkins, Sue Lewis, Gareth Davies, Richard Thomas and Martin Davies.
