Better marketing needed for Ceredigion

Representatives from Twristiaeth Ceredigion Tourism (TCT), the new body representing local tourism businesses operators, have highlighted the need to better market Ceredigion as a holiday destination during a meeting with the Tourism Minister, Edwina Hart AM.
The Welsh Government’s Minister for Business – which also includes responsibility for tourism in Wales – met up with the organisation’s representatives during a visit to Cardigan Castle on Tuesday.
The meeting was arranged by Ceredigion’s Elin Jones AM after being approached by TCT.
Elin Jones AM said: “The changeable weather we’ve experienced in Ceredigion over the summer months mean that it’s been a very challenging time for local tourism businesses, with trade down this
year, and also likely to be affected next year as well.
“However, it was good to see those businesses owners present remaining upbeat and eager to discuss various ways of increasing inward tourism into Ceredigion from other parts of the UK.
“I was pleased that the Minister recognised the need to better highlight Ceredigion as a suitable tourist destination, and that she will be looking at ways of drawing specific attention to the various parts of Wales in future tourism campaigns being run by the Welsh Government.
“We have a lot to offer our visitors in Ceredigion, and our economy is heavily dependent on the tourism industry. It’s therefore essential that we market ourselves effectively to ensure that visitors are not only attracted to the area once, but continue to return year after year”.
