When police visited the home of a 54-year-old man near New Quay they found a sawn-off shotgun and also seized cannabis resin.
The incident at Parcydelyn, Llwyndafydd on January 4 led to Ian Christopher Taylor being charged with possession of a shotgun which had been shortened in contravention of the Firearms Act; possessing a 410 single barrel bolt action shotgun without a certificate; possession of 15.8 grammes of cannabis resin.
When he appeared at Ceredigion Magistrates Court last week Taylor, who was represented by Aled Owen, pleaded guilty on the three charges.
He was given a two years conditional discharge on the shotgun offences and fined £100 with £85 costs and £15 victim surcharge on the cannabis charge.
The magistrates ordered the forfeiture of the gun and six cartridges.
