Ceredigion youth work project up for award

Ceredigion Urdd Youth Forum has been nominated for an award celebrating excellence in youth work.

The Youth Work Excellence Awards, organised by the Welsh Government, recognise the valuable contribution youth workers make to their communities and young people.

Ceredigion Urdd Youth Forums joint project with the Carmarthenshire and Anglesey forums, “Trafodiaith”, has been nominated for an award in the Welsh Language and Culture group project category.

The awards evening will take place at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff on Thursday 23rd February, and will be hosted by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens.

The Deputy Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert, who is a qualified youth worker and has worked as youth work assessor in Mid Glamorgan and Caerphilly, will hand out some of the awards.

Simon Weston OBE and Daily Mail TV critic Jaci Stephens are also attending to hand out awards, and Boys Aloud will perform at the event.

Deputy Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert, said: “These awards celebrate the contribution youth workers make to their communities and the positive impact they have on the lives of the next generation.

Youth programmes across Wales allow young people to fulfil a range of interests and provide an outlet for their positive development and creativity. These programmes would not be possible without the support and dedication of youth workers.”
