A cloudburst in the Cardigan area yesterday afternoon caused flash flooding and fire crews and council workmen answered numerous calls.
An elderly couple living in Feidrfair in Cardigan had to move out of their home and book into a bed and breakfast establishment after floodwater came up through the drains – the couple were also evacuated during flooding in 2003.
Stallholders in the Lower Market mounted a mop-up operation after water came through the floor, but the traders managed to save their stocks.
Firemen from Cardigan were called to pump out two flooded properties at Blaenporth and at the Happy Woke in Priory Street where the ground floor was under several inches of water.
Crymych firemen pumped away floodwater at Brynhafod in Cardigan and council workers distributed sandbags in the area and at Felinban.
A property in Morgan Street was affected and floodwater caused a landslide at the bottom of the hill leading to Greenfield Row.
