Lib Dems win Ceredigion by increased majority

Liberal Democrat Mark Williams has been returned as the MP for Ceredigion with a hugely increased majority.

Mr Williams came top of the poll with just over 19,000 votes and increasing his majority by over 8,000 votes.

Mr Williams' victory was lauded by campaigners as a victory for old fashioned grassroots politics.

"To win today with such a big majority makes me all the more humble tonight," he said.

"I want to thank the people of Ceredigion for entrusting to me the opportunity to represent them in the House of Commons," he said.

"The challenge for Ceredigion goes on whatever the colour of the government in London," he added.
