Welsh Labour announced the selection of their youngest General Election candidate today. A Town Councillor and student activist Richard Boudier has been confirmed as Welsh Labour's Parliamentary Candidate for Ceredigion. His selection was welcomed by Peter Hain as a shot in the arm for the local party. Richard, 20, is a final year student at Aberystwyth, where he is currently a town councillor and former Chair of Labour Students. Richard is also a Welsh learner. His political interests include social justice, devolution, higher education funding and public services.

Secretary of State for Wales, Peter Hain MP, said it was good to have young talent coming forward in the party, "I'm always delighted to see Labour select strong up-and-coming candidates who can add fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the party. I have every confidence that Richard will take the fight to the Liberals and Plaid in Ceredigion. All over Wales people are recognising that a vote for anyone but Labour in the next election could let the Tories sneak in the back door."
