There was little festive cheer for four people employed at a Cardigan veterinary centre after the practice closed down at Christmas.
The Teifi Veterinary Practice run by Emily McAteer took over the former Delme Edwards practice at Bathhouse some ten years ago and moved to its present premises in Lower St Mary Street about five years ago.
Early last week staff received redundancy notices and in a message to clients Ms McAteer said: "The practice has closed down and will not reopen."
She thanked her clients for their support over the years, apologised for any inconvenience and wished everyone well for the future.
Attempts to obtain a comment from the veterinary surgeon were unsuccessful and a notice on the door of the premises stated "Please contact one of the other practices in the area for emergency assistance.
"Medical records will be made available in the near future through one of the other practices."
