Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Adam Price MP have congratulated Ceredigion Assembly Member Elin Jones AM after she was named Assembly Member of the year at the Welsh Yearbook Politics awards. The award capped of a fantastic year for Elin in which she was the first politician ever to be named Farming champion by Farmers Weekly.
Adam Price said: "This is an award that is thoroughly well deserved. After years of being marginalised Elin has ensured that rural Wales truly has a strong voice in government. Her contribution has been recognised across Wales. She is a Minister that is not afraid of taking difficult decisions and has always, and will always, stand up for rural Wales.”
Rhodri Glyn Thomas said: “I am immensely proud of what Elin has achieved on behalf of Wales. She has brought important agricultural issues to the cabinet table and more importantly has taken decisive action in supporting the industry through difficult times. Quite rightly Elin is the most respected agricultural Minister in the decade of devolution and I know from personal experience in Carmarthenshire that she is hugely popular amongst farmers who find her personal and experienced approach a breath of fresh air.”
