Ceredigion Post Offices urged to apply for Diversification Funding

Elin Jones, Plaid Cymru’s Assembly Member for Ceredigion, has urged all Post Offices in Ceredigion to look at applying for funding under the Assembly Government’s newly-launched Post Office Diversification Fund.

The Assembly Government announced this week that the fund – the successor to the Post Office Development Fund – will be open from 01 January 2009. Sub-postmasters throughout Wales will be able to apply for funding to assist with marketing, training costs and some set-up costs in relation to new services.

Welcoming the new fund, Elin Jones AM said: "Following the recent consultation on plans to reintroduce the Post Office Development Fund, I welcome the announcement that a new fund has been launched to help our local branches diversify and develop their businesses.

"Unfortunately, the Westminster Government’s programme of forced closures has already reduced the number of Post Offices in Ceredigion. I therefore hope that our remaining branches will look at the possibilities offered by this new fund so that they can take steps to strengthen their businesses for the future".
