Appeal realises pool’s £10,000

AN APPEAL to raise cash to build a hydrotherapy pool for disabled children at a special school has been boosted by £10,000.

The cash for the Waterwings Appeal, launched by Marlborough School in Sidcup, came from the Woolwich bank.

It raised the money with help from staff and the public.

The bank donated 1p every time one of its cash machines in the borough was used in October and November. This alone raised more than £2,500.

A raffle among the staff raised another £3,750. Then Barclays, its parent company offered to top the effort up to £10,000

The appeal has been adopted by Bexley's Mayor Councillor Aileen Beckwith as part of her mayoral charity.
