A WHITLAND man has been ordered to pay more than £700 for abandoning his car at the side of the road.

Peter Kenneth Whiting was convicted at Ammanford Magistrates Court on Monday.

The 60-year-old, who lives in Login, pleaded guilty to abandoning a motor vehicle on the public highway and causing an obstruction of the public highway.

He was fined £500 by magistrates and ordered to pay £289 costs.

The prosecution was brought by Carmarthenshire County Council.
