A 14-MILE field gun pull has raised £975 for the Royal British Legion and the Mayor of Newport's Local Charities Fund.
A group of around 30 walkers, accompanied by a safety vehicle from the 14 Signal Regiment, pulled the mock First World War field gun to Newport's Remembrance Garden from Letterston war memorial last Sunday, September 16.
The event commemorated the centenary of the First World War, while a roadside bucket collection raised funds.
"It went extremely well," said mayor of Newport, John Edwards. "We are delighted with how much we raised. People were very generous. A big thank you to all who supported us."
