THE problem of people drinking in the streets in Cardigan is to be raised with the police.
Alcohol-free area are in operation in the town but at a recent meeting of the town council, Cllr Catrin Miles questioned their effectiveness.
“There are alcohol-free zones but if they are not policed they are not worth having,” she said.
“There was a large group drinking one Friday night but I did not feel I could go up to them myself and say anything.
“All the bottles were being thrown into the river and it is such a shame and not a good example of what we want our town to be.”
The issue will be raised at a meeting with the Cardigan Neighbourhood Policing Team.
