A NEWPORT man has been fined and must pay compensation after assaulting a police officer in Cardigan.
Owain James Williams, of Maes Ingli, Newport pleaded guilty to the assault which took place on July 27 when he appeared before magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre.
Twenty-nine-year-old Williams was fined £120 and ordered to pay £50 compensation. He also has to pay costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
