TWO intrepid fundraisers from Cardigan are at it again next month.

Pam Morris, 58, and Paul Davies, 61, will be tackling the London Marathon walk on September 22 to raise cash for charity.

Last year they completed the same challenge and raised just over £3,200 for Diabetes UK. This time around, they will be taking on the iconic 26.2-mile route past some of London’s most notable landmarks for Mind Cymru.

“My late wife Tricia passed away three years ago and had suffered with depression and so this time around I wanted to do something related to mental health,” said taxi driver Paul.

Pam and Paul are once back in training clocking up the miles on the hills around Cardigan but as Pam admits, it is not proving quite as daunting or demanding as last year.

“It does seem a bit easier this time around,” said Pam. “We have started training later as we are not starting out from the sofa and we are both fairly active but it is still tough, especially in all the hot weather we have had and the hills around here.”

As well as doing the marathon walk, which last year took 10 hours, the pair are also organising a music night at Cardigan Rugby Club to boost the fund-raising efforts.

It will feature Elvis Desley and Kirilee as Madonna and Adele and will take place on Saturday, September 1. Doors open at 7pm, live music from 7.30pm, along with raffle and auction.

Tickets £5 on the night, or in advance from Cardigan Rugby Club or from Paul or Pam on 07971 469831 or 07837 637332.

Pam and Paul are also part of Cardigan Charity Fundraising Appeal, which has raised around £30,000 for local charitable causes over the last five years.
