WHEN it comes to sheer guts in raising funds for a worthy cause, 60-year-old Brian Williams of St Dogmaels has few equals.

The retired financial adviser, of Cefn, completed the annual eight-mile Snowdon 500 Walk 11 times to raise funds for the Prostate Cancer Research charity in remembrance of his father-in-law who died of the disease.

Brian was devastated earlier this year when he was himself diagnosed with prostate cancer and during treatment for the disease, a 12th charity walk seemed most unlikely.

But he refused to give in and despite his condition showed tremendous battling qualities in completing the walk and raising more than £1,000 for the charity.

As he prepared for more chemotherapy treatment earlier this week, Brian said: “It was very tough but when there is a will there is a way.

“I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart the many people who have sponsored me – diolch yn fawr.”
