THE revived Cardigan Carnival has come up with another packed programme for this year, with the carnival itself taking place on Saturday, August 11.

The organising committee, which brought the carnival back last year after a gap of 17 years, has put together a week-long programme of events.

It all starts off with a new It’s a Knockout competition to be staged at Cardigan Show, Briscwm Fields, on Saturday, August 4 at 5.30pm.

A family treasure hunt will take place from the Grosvenor on Sunday, August 5 at 2pm, while on Monday, August 5 there will be bingo at the Fisherman’s Rest at 7.30pm.

On Tuesday, August 7, there will be a teddy bears’ picnic at Victoria Gardens, with storytelling for the youngsters from noon-2pm. Bring along your own teddy and picnic.

On the same day, a car treasure hunt will leave the Mart car park between 6pm-7pm.

A kids’ fun day will take place at the King George V playing field on Wednesday, August 8 from 1pm-4pm, while on Thursday, August 9, Crwst will stage a carnival quiz from 7.30pm.

The Mantle Brewery beer barrel relay, which drew big crowds to the town centre last year, will take place from outside the Guildhall and along Pendre on Friday, August 10 from 7pm.

Will Pendre Art retain their coveted trophy? If you and your friends fancy your chances why not give it a go?

Teams of six needed to apply and it costs £42 per team. To register contact Yve O’Neill on 07815 184975 or email yveone1965@gmail.com with closing date for entries July 27.

And it all wraps up with the main carnival procession through the town followed by judging at the King George V playing field on Saturday, August 11 from 1.30pm-6.30pm.

Traders will be playing their part by staging a spot the mistake in the window competition from July 21-August 11, with entry forms to be collected from Awen Teifi.
