THE big hats, best dresses and sharpest suits were on show when a Cardigan resident attended a garden party hosted by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace recently.

Jolly Joseph and her husband Saji, from the town’s Brondesbury Lodge nursing home at Heol Derw, made the trip to London to attend the event.

“It was a fantastic honour to be invited, the weather was good and it was a fantastic day,” said Mrs Joseph, who was chosen to attend the party for her service to the local community.

Both the Queen, Prince William and other members of the royal family were present at the party, which was attended by around 5,000 people, in the grounds of Buckingham Palace.

“We had a walk around the grounds and the gardens were beautiful and what made us laugh was we had mint and cucumber finger sandwiches,” added Jolly.
