A SUSPECTED drink-driver stopped by police provided a roadside breath test more than five times the legal limit last night (Tuesday, May 20).

The motorist was stopped at New Quay by officers from Ceredigion Roads Policing Unit after being seen swerving across the road.

A roadside breathalyser produced a reading of 180mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, while a lowest reading of 149mg was then provided more than an hour later in custody. The legal limit is 35mg per 100ml of breath.

The driver spent a night in the cells before being charged to appear in court.
