A CARDIGAN man is set to tackle a three-day 250-mile bike ride in Holland to raise money for charity.

Richard Jones, of RJ Financial Planning, a partner practice of St James’s Place Wealth management, alongside a team of Welsh advisers will be starting out from the Olympic park in London on June 28, via Essex countryside to Harwich and then across to the Hook of Holland.

From there, he’ll be cycling the spectacular Dutch cycle path network, taking in canal-side riding and through the city of Gouda.

After a stop-over in Utrecht, the bike ride will head north, crossing over the Marketmeer before completing his journey to Amsterdam. The Cycle Challenge 2018: London to Amsterdam will involve cycling just under 250 miles in three days.

Richard will be raising funds for a charity called ‘The School of Hard Knocks’, which uses sport to tackle the issues surrounding unemployment, crime, health, while promoting responsibility and positivity within our local communities.

The charity engages people to grow in confidence, take responsibility for their lives and actions, experience the value of team work and diversity and learn the value of respect and re-engage with employment or education.

Ex-Welsh rugby star Scott Quinnell is a proud ambassador of the charity.

The School of hard Knocks is one of many charities that the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation support. The foundation has grown significantly since 1992 to become one of the most successful company charities in the UK, with more than £71 million raised and distributed to good causes.

The Charitable Foundation has been able to support many charities and good causes over the years with multiple grants, both in the UK and overseas. If you are a registered charity locally, please get in touch as it has recently secured funding for other local charitable projects and would be very keen to hear from you.

If you would like to sponsor Richard or would like to discuss applying for funding for your own charity, please call in to the RJ Financial Planning office on 36 High Street, Cardigan (Old Fedwen bakery shop), call the office on (01239) 801555 or sponsor via the just giving page on justgiving.com/fundraising/thewelshcohort
