A MOTORIST who was more than double the drink-driver limit has been banned from the roads for 20 months.

Stephen Haydn Hartley, of Hill Street, New Quay, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus on the B4342 at Gilfachrheda on December 10 last year while over the legal limit.

Hartley had 171 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.

Magistrates at Aberystwyth Justice Centre banned the 31-year-old for 20 months and fined him £120. He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
