EMLYN Runners and Emlyn Leisure Centre recently hosted a fund-raising fitness evening for Chrissie Appleby-Phillips.

Chrissie is representing GB in the Bench Press World Championships in Finland this month and has to fund the trip entirely herself in order to compete.

There was a choice of activities to suit everyone from spinning sessions with Will Collins, a weights class and demonstration with Chrissie and a 5k and 10k run led by the running club members.

Well deserved tea and cake was offered afterwards for all their hard work.

From the donations to participate and substantial raffle ticket purchases, an impressive £469 was raised on the evening with yet more donations pledged. This, in addition to what Chrissie has raised so far, means she has met her target.

Emlyn Runners would like to thank everyone involved and for the support shown to Chrissie, to all the participants and the local community with the generous raffle prizes - Kwame Salam, Mike Rees, Will Collins, Emlyn Leisure Centre, Nia T Davies, Emlyn swimming pool, Dolbryn Caravan site, David Maund, Wayne Hoyland and Sian Spencer.

Emlyn Runners is hosting its annual 10k race, introducing a brand new route, on June 28 at 7pm.
