THEATR Mwldan will be providing some romantic escapism in Cardigan on Wednesday, May 16 with a screening of the Tony award-winning show An American In Paris (7.15pm).

Jerry Mulligan is an American GI striving to make it as a painter in a city suddenly bursting with hope and possibility.

Following a chance encounter with a beautiful young dancer named Lise, the streets of Paris become the backdrop to a sensuous, modern romance of art, friendship and love in the aftermath of war...

This breathtakingly beautiful Broadway musical, inspired by the Oscar-winning MGM film, tells the impassioned story of discovering love in the ‘City of Light’.

The show features the gorgeous music and lyrics of George and Ira Gershwin, stunning designs, and show-stopping choreography. With a record-setting 28 five-star reviews from critics, An American in Paris is coming from London’s West End to Theatr Mwldan.

“Christopher Wheeldon’s superb show is a riot of colour and movement, with irresistible dance routines and a wealth of Gershwin classics,” says The Guardian

The Telegraph writes: “A powerful, mind-altering substance is being peddled at the Dominion Theatre. You enter stooped by the cares wrought by Old Man Trouble.

“You leave with barely a worry in your head, a spring in your step, and an ache for Paris pumping so feverishly through every vein that if a representative from Eurostar were to lie outside, you’d follow them to St Pancras with no thought for your bank balance.”

The Independent says: “Christopher Wheeldon’s An American in Paris is a whirl of colour and imagery, a fantasy Paris rooted to a specific historical moment.”

Tickets for An American In Paris at Mwldan are £12.50 (£11.50) and are available now from Theatr Mwldan’s box office on 01239 621200, online at www.mwldan.co.uk or via the new Mwldan app.
