ALL schools in Pembrokeshire are to close from 1pm today (Thursday, March 1) due to the bad weather forecast. They will also be closed tomorrow (Friday, March 2) and, it is envisaged, will re-open on Monday (March 5).

This pre-emptive action has been taken in light of the Met Office forecast of deteriorating weather conditions this afternoon and to avoid unnecessary congestion on the road network.

School transport arrangements will be in operation.

All non-essential council services, including day centres, will also be closed today.

Given the forecast conditions, a section of the ‘mountain road’, the B4329, is likely to be closed later today between the cattle grid north of New Inn and Tafarn-y-Bwlch.

The 'Spring on the Horizon' poetry and cello event, scheduled to be held tonight, March 1, at Rhosygilwen has been cancelled.
