A VEHICLE fire in Cardigan today (Tuesday, February 20) closed the road at Pontycleifion as fire crews dealt with the incident.
No-one was injured in the blaze opposite the entrance to Cardigan Hospital but the road into town was shut and drivers were told to find an alternative route.
A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue service said: “At 11.05am, crews from Crymych and Cardigan were called to a vehicle fire near Finch Square, Cardigan.
“One van was well alight and extinguished by firefighters using two hose reel jets. The Fire Service left the incident at 12.45pm.”
The fire damaged the recently widened and relaid pavement and road surface which had been carried out by Ceredigion County Council over the past few weeks.
