A CARDIGAN business owner is growing increasingly frustrated at the lack of road signage for Parc Teifi business park.

Glyn Hyett, managing director at 3PTechnik UK Ltd, says the on-going issue costs him and his customers time and money.

“I have a trader here right now who has spent one hour looking for Parc Teifi, having ended up following the numerous and excellent signs directing everybody to the privately owned Pentood Industrial Estate,” said Mr Hyett.

“All she says is that the only sign she saw was the sign for the Police Station, which obscures the single main road sign indicating the presence for the elusive, mysterious “Parc Teifi Business Park”.

Mr Hyett raised the issue when he moved on to the Welsh Government-backed business park back in 2006. He raised it again in 2012 when he was told that plans were in place to put up signs on both the A487 and A484.

“All I am asking for is a couple of roads signs,” he said.

“This is a major site employing hundreds of people and surely it’s not beyond them to put up a couple of signs. Sat nav is not the answer to everything. I often get delivery drivers who have not been here before and if it costs them 10 minutes looking for me it can put everything behind schedule.

“Absolutely nothing has happened about any road signage, or indeed the long-promised improved signage for the entrance to the Parc here, for years and years. WG seem determined to keep Parc Teifi a closely guarded secret. God forbid anyone does any business here and attempts to employ anyone.

“We are not asking for so much really. With so very many jobs here, is it too much to ask WG or council to assist the traders, public and couriers etc to be able to find economically active businesses in the far flung area.

“Aberteifi always seems right at the bottom of the economic assistance pile. Is it any wonder we have so many of our own independent organisations like 4CG, Menter Aberteifi and the Castle Trust?

“We are well used to having to paddle our own coracle here. However, the specific problem in this case is that we are not even allowed to erect our own highway signs, and occasionally WG agents threaten us to remove the self-funded signage boards at the entrance.”
