A FUND-RAISING night for the Wales Air Ambulance raised just over £8,000.

The Emlyn Hotel at Newcastle Emlyn was the venue for a cheese and wine evening attended by around 150 people.

Entertainment was provided by the London Welsh Rugby Club male voice choir, tenors Aled Wyn Davies and Rhys Meirion, ex-Welsh rugby star Phil Bennett OBE while local girls Awen and Anest Davies started the evening off with beautiful harp music.

The president for the evening was Catherine Jones from Castell Howell foods.

Organiser Gwen Evans, from Cardigan, said: “It was a fantastic night and I would like to thank everyone for their support and help, and also to Barclays who provided us with further match funding.

"I have done a few of these concerts over the years but I think this was probably the most money we have raised at one event.”
