FOR one day only on Saturday, April 21, Newcastle Emlyn will be transformed into a vintage-themed town with stalls along its high street.

This event follows on from the successful first Vintage Day held last year and members of the town’s Traders’ Group are hoping to make 2018 a bigger and better event.

Ruth Rowland, from Ruby's Yard, is responsible for the vintage-themed stalls and is asking traders from all areas to get involved.

“Last year was very well supported and this year we want to open it up and invite stall holders from across Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and beyond,” said Ruth.

“It’s massively important to host events such as this to bring the community together and to show that Newcastle Emlyn is the place to be with our fantastic facilities.”

She hopes that the community event, which will have a vintage car display and a vintage-themed dance in the evening, will attract a big crowd.

Ruth said: “We’d love it if people brought vintage-inspired stalls, records, clothes, books and memorabilia. It won’t be a street jumble sale, it will be for people who run vintage businesses. It’s all fresh and rather exciting and we hope many will support.”

Organisation for the event is still in its early days, but chairman of the Newcastle Emlyn Traders’ Group Jill Sutton is looking forward to expanding the Vintage Day.

She said: “We are building on what we did last year and as a group we are working together to promote the town with various activities throughout the year.

"The Traders’ Group was established in Newcastle Emlyn in November 2015 and its mission is to increase the profile of the town, to campaign for improved facilities and to increase its prosperity.”
