A FIRE at Lammas eco village yesterday has destroyed a house.
Investigations are continuing into the cause of the blaze yesterday afternoon (Monday, January 1) at the village in Glandwr, near Crymych.
More than 20 firefighters battled the flames at the straw-built home. No-one was hurt and the cause is not yet known. The ground-breaking village is made up of nine unique homes and was set up to promote sustainable living.
Dai Swan, of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said crews were confronted by a house which was well alight when they arrived.
He added: "It's utterly heartbreaking for the crews seeing how much workmanship has gone into these (house) frames.
"Each piece of this building is bespoke, it's done to a beautifully high standard and to see it damaged by fire is just heartbreaking."
