THE future of the harbour area in Cardigan is one of four areas up for review in Ceredigion.

The county council is encouraging people to attend organised workshops connected to a current review of county harbours to also include New Quay, Aberystwyth and Aberaeron.

Funded by the Welsh Government through the Ports Development Fund, a firm of consultants has been appointed by the council to carry out a review of the four harbours.

The review will assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for each harbour to identify what possibilities exist for future developments. The review will also assess how the harbours might improve their contribution to the Welsh economy.

Cllr Gareth Lloyd, cabinet member responsible for economic development and community development, said: “Harbours are important assets and are very important to our coastal towns. I encourage anyone who has a contribution to make regarding our harbours to attend one of the workshops.”

A workshop will be held in Cardigan on November 24 between 9am and 11am in the Guildhall. The New Quay workshop will be held on November 24 between 1.30pm and 3.30pm in the Memorial Hall.
