FOLLOWING her parents to racing tracks across Britain and beyond during her childhood was the best training possible for the latest member of the Ralïo+ presentation team, Hana Medi.

As the S4C series returns to a weekly slot at 6.30pm on Monday evenings, Hana joins Emyr Penlan, Llinos Lee and Howard Davies to present a range of items from the world of motorsport.

Having spent her early years with her parents as they raced on the British Autograss scene, and in the garage her father ran in Drefach Felindre, it is safe to say that cars played a big role in Hana's upbringing.

"I've grown up with racing," said Hana, a former pupil of Ysgol Dyffryn Teifi, Llandysul.

"So many of my memories involve going out in the campervan every weekend with mum, dad and my older sister, to different parts of the country for different races.

“Mum came second in the National Autograss Races one year when I was younger, and that was big deal at the time. Dad was also working hard, and he was very competitive racing in the autograss series and rallying.

"Travelling to Epynt and Pembrey and different parts of Ireland was a big part of my life. I enjoyed being in the garage with my dad, wearing my overalls when I was younger, but maybe not so much these days! There's definitely a buzz to rallying."

With a break in the World Rally Championship season until the Spanish Rally in October, the Ralïo+ team will focus on drivers and races across Wales and Britain over the next few weeks.

Monday night’s episode (September 18) focuses on highlights from the latest round of the British Autograss Racing Championship in Broughton, Flintshire, while on Monday, September 25, the team will be on the Isle of Man with action from the final races of this year's British Rally Championship.

And with Wales Rally GB returning next month, Ralïo+ will broadcast a daily highlights programme from October 26-30.

Hana added, "I'm looking forward to getting out and meeting people in the racing community and in the garages and hearing their stories. The racing community and its people are fantastic and there are so many great characters to interview.

“And of course I'm already looking forward to the Wales Rally GB!"
