ABERPORTH beach is one of the top spots in Britain to enjoy a picnic, according to a recent nationwide survey.

The beach was voted the third most popular in a survey of 2,000 parents conducted on behalf of DisneyLife.

Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower Peninsula was voted the best beauty spot to unpack your hamper and break out the sarnies and flask of tea, with Padley Gorge in the Peak District in second place.

But close behind was Aberporth, with views, accessibility and parking all taken into account when deciding on the final shortlist.

The poll also discovered more than a third of British families are willing to drive for more than an hour to discover the perfect picnic spot.

Chiara Cipriani, of DisneyLife who commissioned the survey, said: "We hope this list of perfect picnic spots will encourage families to go on an adventure."

In another recent poll, Cardigan was named as one of the top-10 best places to live in Wales. The accolade came in The Sunday Times ‘Best Places to Live in Britain’ guide.
