ARTISTS in Newcastle Emlyn were thrilled when local MP Jonathan Edwards dropped in on Wednesday (August 2) to visit the town’s Art Festival which sees nearly 30 local businesses displaying art work in their windows.

"I was delighted to visit and support Gwyl Celf (Art Festival) in Newcastle Emlyn”, said Carmarthenshire East and Dinefwr MP Mr Edwards.

“The festival helps bring a range of businesses together and showcases the diverse incredible local talent we have.

"The festival is in its second year and could become a big event in the calendar as a fantastic way to attract new visitors to the town.

"I wish the festival every success and look forward to seeing it grow each year."

Rhian Davies, owner of Siop Y Wiber Art Shop, accompanied Mr Edwards as he looked up and down the street at the art on show in Newcastle Emlyn.

“Despite the rain and his busy schedule, Jonathan took the time to look at the festival displays. It was a pleasure to meet him and to have the opportunity to discuss some of the issues faced by local businesses,” she said.

The Festival will finish on August 12. For more information see http://artinemlyn.co.uk/
